Hello, 🙂
Back in Spring I experimented with some simple ring forms (bar the use of solder). Rings are an essential to do in any bead artisan’s work but budding jeweller’s tend to shy away from tackling them and bangles too.
Saying that I loved bracelet making way back in 2014 so I guess it really depends on your preference but from hearing other makers viewpoints, bangles and rings do seem to be the items makers are inclined to veer away from and make last on their jewellery making journey but once you master them you can pretty much make anything!
These ring forms are on 16 and 18g copper, brass and silver plate. You can add some sparkly beads in to your design or keep things plain. However when you’re starting out with ring making, try to begin working with plain wire to see how the metal you’re using reacts to forming, as all metals react differently. You’ll need a mandrel of some kind to shape the wire, a hammer/mallet and a ring sizer to get the right fit. When you’ve got a bit more experience of handling the wire alone on the mandrel you can begin adding beads, replacing plastic beads with semi-precious as you progress.
Happy Crafting,
